I'm Getting Antsy With My Hair Growth.....

I'm beginning to get a bit antsy with my natural hair growth.
I'm wanting to see more growth, bigger twistouts and less tangles and knots. I think its time I get a better routine. My current routine is to wash weekly (the longest I go is maybe a week and a half), deep condition weekly and moisturize every 2-3 days. I still get knots and tangles between the days that I moisturize. I guess that means I should moisturize more often to prevent these little jokers....which means I need to find a moisturizer that I like and can use regularly.

I bought Shikai Everyday Conditioner over the weekend and I think I will use this as my everyday or every other day moisturizer. I used this once when my hair was shorter after my big chop, but ended up giving it to a friend to use on her daughter's hair. From what I can remember my hair really reacted well to it. I'm currently moisturizing my hair with Shea Moisture Hair Smoothie and it leaves white residue in my hair all the time and I'm kinda over it now.

My new moisturizer.
Ingredients: Water (Purified), Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Avacado (Persea Gratissima) Oil, Glycerin (Vegetable), Amodimethicone, Behentrimonium Chloride, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Panthenol, Neutral Henna Extract (non coloring), Guar Powder, Diazolidinyl Urea, Fragrance (Natural)

So my new routine will include: daily moisturizing and oiling my hair, taking a vitamin everyday (its so easy for me to slack off with this now), drinking lots of water and getting some sort of cardio in. Oh, and I will my chocolate to after dinner only. Also, I plan to get more creative with my styling with whatever my free time allows.

  1. Yeah, when I spray my hair with my water, glycerin, conditioner mix and use Shea Moisture afterwards, I get the white residue as well. Using KC Knot Today, does it as well. My hair certainly isn't as long as I thought it would be at this point, and I'm not liking this in-between phase of not long and not short. I need to just get my hands out of my hair, and just let it be. Where did you get the Shikai?

  2. Thanks TiAnna! I hate the white residue stuff. I think Curlynikki did a post about what that means but I don't know where it is. If you remember, let me know. As for styles for you , I looked on youtube and sent you some vids. The last vid I sent or first vid in your inbox is the technique, but I think you should part it the way the girl did in the 2nd one I sent but take it all down instead of leaving some in. I plan to email you one more. :-)

  5. I'm always trying to get my hair to grow, but it takes forever! I'm not the best at taking vitamins, but they never seem to make that much of a difference.

    I'm a new follower!

    XOXO

  6. @Alice: I got it from Sprouts but you can get it from any natural/organic food store, like Whole Foods. Not sure about the Vitamin Shoppe. Hope you find it!

@Jenny: now you gave me a reason not to take them! Well, at least I tried. ;D
