Fingers Crossed

This week will be the first week where the temperatures reach 100 degrees. Damn you Texas! Last year, the temperatures were in the 100's for 45 days straight. I realized that summertime for me is just like wintertime. I.Do.Not.Want.To.Go.Outside. Even my 2 year-old son who was created to be outside is always asking to go inside. So now, we have to get out an hour or two earlier. Sigh.....okay, enough complaining.

On another note.....I have a job interview on Tuesday morning!!!!! Go me! {cue the butterfly dance}
I'm not sure what will come of it, but I'm just happy that my resume was looked at and I was called in for an interview. My degree is in engineering but since becoming a stay at home mom (SAHM), I have really wanted to switch my career to one that allowed me more flexible hours. Actually after having my boys, I wished I would've gone into nursing or teaching.....the only thing is that I just didn't don't like those careers.

Oh, the stresses of being a mom----> The tug of war between working and spending time at home [raising] your kids. During my time at home, I've had done lots of searches, as well as said lots of prayers, about what career I should switch into, but I haven't come up with any. Maybe I'll be able to talk my way into part-time work, who knows? Its really hard figuring out my next move in a new state and area where I don't know enough people to lean on for support. I really hate the lack of diversity here in Fort Worth. I'm not even motivated to be outgoing and meet new [mom] friends because the ones I've been around are just....bleh.

I don't know what my next move is but keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!! Do any of you have any 'cool' yet flexible careers that doesn't involve blood (nursing) or kids (teaching)?

'Preschool' Program Gone Wrong

I know he isn't a performer. I mean, he's never been that kid that when you say giddily, "Drew sing" or "Do your dance," he ALWAYS leaves you hanging. That is usually in front of family or friends....because he needs his 'warm up to you' period. This period can last from 10 minutes to an hour.
Oddly enough, its in his personality because if he is doing a silly dance in front of one parent and then the other (me or my hubs) walks in and we tell him to do it again, he'll frown and fall to the floor. Obviously he doesn't need to warm up to his parents.....so its just his personality to not "perform" for people's adoration or amusement.

Uh oh.

Well there were 100+ people in the audience and there was no possible way for him to warm up to that. Each 'preschool' class was to perform a song. My son's class was the youngest class so their song was just two and a half minutes long and they had to stay seated while singing it instead of standing like the older 2's, 3's and 4 year old classes. (Probably in fear of them walking/running off the little stage crying). As the music starts and his chapel "jam" starts to come on, he freaks out and does this.....
My new screen saver.
My husband and I were completely stunned but stricken with laughter too. I'm not going to lie, it was the funniest thing ever! These aren't all of the kids on the stage, but this was all I chose to fit in my lens. He frowned, made his eyes really big and rolled back slowly into the above position. As I think about it right now, all I can do is shake my head and say "That boy......"

He sat up, looked at us, frowned said "No" and rolled back again. Hey, at least his legs weren't in a V this time. And we kept laughing.....my husband was a lot more than me. I was beginning to gesture as well as say "No no no!"

Get me outta here! And stop looking at me!
Now I know that this frown means, and I may be saying "Oh {expletive}" later. Meanwhile......

Chillin' and completely unaware.
 Of course when we got back home, he sang the song perfectly. Now if he tries that again next year......I will NOT be laughing! He actually fell back like that three times, the third time having his friend next to him join him. Then he started stomping his feet and all of his classmates started stomping with him. And all of this [funny-toddler] foolery took place in two and a half minutes.

Thank goodness we got it all of tape.

Weave Me Alone

I am sooooo excited for Saturday!!! Wonder why? Ohhhh nothing special other than I'm having my sew-in weave removed! Yay for me!!!
"Weave....its been real, but dueces!" {throws the peace sign}
Excuse the shiny forehead.

Weaves are gorgeous and I really wish I could wear mine for a full 6-8 weeks but Saturday will mark 4 weeks on the dot and I'm happy that I lasted that long.

Since I mainly perspire in my head/scalp, it has been almost impossible to keep my bangs straight without applying heat weekly and sometimes every couple of days. Not only is this not how I want to treat my hair, its definitely not how I want to spend my time.......with a curling iron. Oh and since all of my moisturizers have water as the first ingredient, my hair reverts to its natural curly coily state after applying them. It was either have dry hair or have moisturized hair and then straighten it again once dry. Between working out a few times a week, going to the park in 90 degree weather and moisturizing, this Saturday can't come quick enough! #TeamNoMoreHeat

When I get this taken out, I'll be doing more twist outs and braid outs and giving my wash 'n go's a break. I'm not seeing the growth that I would like to see and am going to go back to the method that was actually working for me. Its time consuming, but I'll just have to make the time. Sigh.

I'm not sure if I'll ever get this done again. I bought 2 packs of extensions and only used 1. We all know hair stores don't do returns. {eyeroll}

Roadblocks----

Source: flickr.com via Paula on Pinterest

After much thinking, I realized my ACTUAL reason that I have not been blogging very much lately. Right now I feel somewhat lost in the direction of my blog. I started this blog out after being inspired by numerous natural hair bloggers that I would follow but never correspond with. Then I found a few that were moms too and I was hooked. I had to connect and share and swap my stories as well.
Well now I've come to that standstill that is causing me to wonder what my direction is going to be. This may sound crazy or silly but don't we all hit roadblocks sometimes? No?....Oh okay.
  • My hair growth is at its own roadblock....sad to say ----->so much for my natural hair posts.
  • And my free time has not been so free, since my boys are allergic to having the same nap schedule. ----> a crying shame, lol.
The good thing about roadblocks is that they help to go in a different and usually better direction.

Now let's just hope I don't stay at this stupid "Detour" sign too long and follow the darn signs around it.
{there is tons of fog around these detour signs and its giving me bad visibility.}

Have you ever experienced any roadblocks with your blog? What helped you get through it???

Saturday, June 2, 2012

I have had all kinds of intentions on blogging more once my son was out of his part-time preschool, but I just haven't been able to. Its going to be harder for me to get the free time I got when he was at school for those few hours a couple times a week, but I guess that means I need to start re-organizing my days.

Sometimes, I don't have anything to write. And then sometimes, I have something I want to share and then by the time I get a free moment [to blog], I have completely forgotten.

I'm sure some of you can relate......right?
